4.5 stars rounding to 5 I came here for a private event. When I arrived, I walked into a VERY crowded restaurant, not knowing that their private dining room was in a separate building. One of their wait staff showed me to a room a couple of doors down (it's a miracle I could flag someone down with how crowded it was). Unfortunately, there is no way to get to the private dining room from inside. You have to walk outside, which I didn't love. The private dining room itself isn't too big. It seats about 15-20 comfortably. It's a very beautiful room- dimly lit with a long cushioned sofa with chairs. There is also a small standing bar space where we had passed hors d'oeuvres before dinner. We got ti try a good sample of small bites. For the seated dinner, we had a customized food and drink menu. One thing they did very well was keep track of people's food restrictions. They were able to prepare modified versions of their menu items that were vegetarian. The food was served family style and came in 4 courses. They served us a little bit of everything but I'll write about the dishes that I personally tried. I don't eat pork so I was limited in some of the items I could try. For example, I didnt try their famous lasagna but I loved everything else I did try. Chrysanthemum salad- quite possibly the best version of a Caesar salad I've ever tried. Each individual piece of greens was so packed with bold Parmesan Caesar flavor Buffalo milk caramelle- the shape of this vegetarian pasta was like wrapped candies or caramels (hence the name). I never had this pasta shape before. The taste was actually pretty spectacular. It was delicate and subtly sweet with hints of orange. It felt light and not heavy. Blackened chicken - The chicken was juicy and not dry. It paired well with the garlic broccoli. I didn't realize this had Italian sausage in it, but I was able to separate it out. Garlic broccoli - this was a highlight of the meal. I love garlic, but if you don't, beware it's very garlicky. Japanese sweet potato- I only had one small piece but it was pleasantly crispy and not as sweet as American sweet potato. Overall, I thought the service was very good and I loved everything I tried on the menu. I don't think I would love eating in the main dining room since it's so busy but for a private event, this was great.

Clean lines and curves in all the right places make for a gorgeous space to enjoy an elevated Italian meal in this elegant establishment that seems to be a hit with the cool set Downtown. Don Angie has stellar food an expansive list of wines, cocktails and other libations but I have to give the design team the most kudos because the space is simple but also sophisticated and stunning. The food here is obviously very good and family style dining may not be the most ideal way to enjoy a meal here for a large group since there's little pleasure in having A single gnocchi or bite of chicken. The consensus among our group found the BBQ calamari to be the single best dish with the superbly delicious pepperoni fried rice providing superb flavor to complement the calamari and herbed labneh...I'm not sure how much exactly a bushel is, but I'm certain I could easily make my way through a bushel of this dish with no hesitation or issue. The lasagna is a "made for the 'gram" dish that I would recommend trying, but at the end of the day, it's lasagna and temper your expectations because it's going to be neither the best or worst you've had. The desserts are good with the mochi being a nice attempt at something different and the black cocoa tiramisu being decadent and delightful with a unique combination of marsala caramel and crispy feuilletine. The service maxed out "OK" but nothing stood out and they could certainly go a lot farther with a more genial attitude.

Reservations were a breeze for us, thanks to my work connection, but I can appreciate how hard it is to get any kind of table here. And, not to rub salt on it, but it is actually worth the effort. You want to eat here. The hype is justified. We started with a perfectly baked Stuffed Garlic Flatbread, a perfectly tart and seasoned Scallop Crudo, and a perfectly dressed Chrysanthemum Salad. Then we shared the Stracchino Gnocchi (earthy and vibrant), the Sorpresine & Smoked Mussels (smokey and unique), and the Sourdough Pasta Cacciatore (hearty and perfect for the lactose-intolerant). But the star of the show was undoubtedly Don Angie's signature Pinwheel Lasagna. I could forgive the tad oversaltedness because the noodles were so perfectly al dente, the tomato sauce was umami incarnate and the meat was mouth-meltingly tender. Get this. Always get this. For drinky-drinks, both the libatious and non-libatious versions of the Margherita and Two Yoots were perfectly refreshing. Service was quick, friendly and attentive, but you might want to ready your flashlights for the impossibly dark ambience (they should really invest in candles). Good luck, fellow diners. May the odds be ever in your favor in the reservation Gunger Games.

Love this place. Worth the hype! I'd come here just for the lasagna. Reservations - They open up at 9am every day but are impossible to get. On weekends, the bar opens at 3:30 and kitchen at 4 so we just lined up at 3pm on a Sunday to walk in and eat at the bar (which has 10 seats available). There were already 3 parties of 2 ahead of us in line but one of them was just there to reserve a table for later. The line got a bit longer around 3:15 so I would recommend getting there at 3 and you should be fine. We were able to get seated at 3:30 and order drinks and food but note that since the kitchen doesn't open until 4, we didn't get any food until 4:11, which was fine. I'll note that people in line - both when we got there and when we left - seemed to be walking in to make reservations for days later, and seemed able to make them for prime times (like that Friday at 6:15pm). Seems like that may be another way to get a reservation if you're more picky for getting a table vs bar and at a prime time. When we left around 5/5:15, the hostess said the bar was fully committed the rest of the night so I think you really probably just have to come around 30 min before they open. We ordered the lasagna, chrysanthemum salad, gnocchi, Japanese sweet potatoes and tiramisu. The knockouts were the lasagna and tiramisu. My husband also liked the salad and the gnocchi. I thought the gnocchi was decent but the salad had too much lemon. I enjoyed the crispness of the Japanese sweet potatoes. It's very cold inside with the AC so recommend a light sweater (I wish I had one even though it was summer and sweltering hot outside). Overall, an amazing experience and totally worth the hype. Highly recommend and can't wait to return!
